Several months ago something terrible happened. My Great-Grandma Horman passed away at the age of 83. I have been fortunate to have such a wonderful Great-Grandma. Family was everything to Grandma -- she was the one who brought us all together; she also had her hobbies and sports, but still had time for us and our sports; and her health and fighting spirit that taught us to never give up.

My Grandma was one of a kind. Her family meant the world to her. She was the one that brought us all together. If we had a holiday get together, it was at her house. We were always welcomed in my Grandma's house. She always loved seeing people that she knew and loved. Company was loved in Grandma's house because she loved to visit and she didn't have anyone to talk to after Grandpa passed away several years ago. We all visited often.

Grandma had her hobbies and sports. She LOVED Bingo. Almost every Friday night we all knew where Grandma would be - Bingo! Grandma also loved to put puzzles together, but she didn't stop there. She would glue it together piece by piece and make it into a picture for us. Besides Bingo and puzzles, Grandma also loved baseball -- she would watch the St. Louis Cardinals on the T.V. Even with all her hobbies and sports, she still took time to come to our sports events -- baseball and basketball games. It seemed like her life revolved around us.

Grandma's healthy lifestyle and fighting spirit taught all of us to never give up. Grandma was never a smoker and drank alcoholic beverages sparingly. She stayed active even though she had been a cancer victim for several years. She was one of the toughest people I know. Her having cancer affected us all. We all worried. Her last battle led to her death. Her death is probably the hardest one I have had to deal with.

Still I am fortunate to have had such a wonderful Great-Grandma. Her love for her family, hobbies and sports, and healthy lifestyle will always be apart of my precious memories.
