102 Year old WWII veteran, Herbert Buchheit.

WWII veteran, Herbert Buchheit, celebrated his 102nd birthday on Sunday, March 15, with his family and friends. Mr. Buchheit was born on March 16 in Old Appleton, MO and is one of 13 children born to Leo and Anna (Ponder) Buchheit. Herbert has 3 siblings remaining, Linus Buchheit of Washington, IN, Theresa Wibbenmeyer of Old Appleton, MO and Martin Buchheit of St. Louis, MO.

Herbert and his wife, Laverne, were married 69 years and have three daughters, Betty Statler of St. Charles, MO, Anna Krauss of Perryville, MO, and Glenda Buchheit of St. Louis, MO.

Herbert still has an amazing memory and likes to tell stories of WWII and the Battle of the Bulge. He also loves to share the history of Old Appleton and the people that worked and lived there.
