Sister Mary Ann leaves a wonderful legacy

For 11 years, Sister Mary Ann Fischer provided leadership and vision for Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, a school whose students come from all over Southeast Missouri and parts of other states as well. During her tenure here, she was a professional educator who left several legacies, including the new high school campus on Route K and her strong religious values as a role model.

Sister Mary Ann, who entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame order in 1956 and professed her final vows in 1964, devoted more than 30 years to the teaching profession. Former students and faculty members remember a woman whose smiles were as warm as her friendship and support.

Cape Girardeau is a better place because of the 11 years she spent in our midst. We join her Notre Dame family and many others in expressing our sympathy to her surviving relatives.

Surely these thoughts apply to Sister Mary Ann: I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel with my eye upon you. -- Psalms 32:8.
