LETTERS: FIRST CONFESS, THEN RESIGN

To the editor:

Should President Clinton be impeached? This seems to be the question of the month. The truth of the matter is that if he committed a crime, and I think Starr has proven this, there should be no question on impeachment. The real question should be why does anyone believe anything this man says and when will we get a real apology? Can you believe that some people think he gave an apology? This so-called apology was nothing but a blatant attack on Kenneth Starr. Clinton tried to make us believe that Starr has created all his problems. The truth is that Clinton made his bed, and now he should sleep in it. Or maybe that was the problem to begin with? An apology from Clinton should be about how much of our time and money he has wasted. An apology to Ms. Lewinskey's parents for the treatment of their daughter should also be forthcoming. He also owes an apology to his daughter for the humiliation she has endured, one to Ms. Jones for the lies he told in order to thwart a sexual harassment charge, and one to the American people for the lies and deceit. After the conference with Yeltsin, maybe one to Germany as well. Some may think an apology should be made to his wife. I for one think she either doesn't care or she is really stupid. I could understand a spouse being forgiven once for his infidelity, but over and over again? Maybe being the first lady is more important than the accountability of her husband. What does this say for her integrity? Are we to believe that this shows strength? I think this shows a lack of self-respect for not only herself but for the American people as well.

The American people should be outraged that Clinton not only lied but that he expects us to believe it. Well, sorry, President Clinton, but I for one aint buying it. When a full confession is offered up, it should end with his resignation. Only then can the American people put this all behind them.
