LETTERS: VOTERS SPOKE, BUT NO ONE LISTENED

To the editor:

Although Jim Drury's lawsuit may have more than one motive, I cannot help but salute him. The voters went to the polls and were asked to vote on two separate issues. Yes, the money was approved. The question, though worded to sound as if it were for a simple issuance of bonds, was really: "Should money be spent to help fund the River Campus?" The voters voted. The answer was no. But our city fathers have chosen to ignore this and find a way around the issuance of bonds or whatever. Once again, they are chomping at the bit to get into partnership with the university on a project that will provide another facility for SEMO to use and charge us to use. I would vote no again, but no one would listen.
