THE PUBLIC MIND: TROUBLE SEEMS TO COME N 25-YEAR CYCLES

There is much turmoil in the world at this time. It appears to happen about every 25 years when we have a period of several years more tumult. In 1917, World War I; in 1942, World War II; in 1967, war in Southeast Asia; in 1992, the aftermath of the `Cold War' and unrest in many parts of the world. The turbulence began a few years before those dates and the peak problems did not always occur on precisely 25-year intervals but the timing of the events should be noticed. The Civil War occurred about 50 years before the Spanish-American War.

Many of the financial problems of the present are due to the `Cold War' armament expenses occurring without reducing other expenses which led to a "guns and butter" program and continuing our lifestyle by borrowed money. The public should understand this.

If the unrest occurs about every 25 years, then 12 years later after each event there should be several years of comparative calm.

We should hear more about a possible 25-year cycle from people who have made studies of such things.
