LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: MULES REPRESENT STUBBORN BEHAVIOR, BUT THEY CAN BE THE BEST OF FRIENDS

To the Editor:

About Missouri mules: Mark Bliss' recent article about Missouri mules brought back many memories. I've walked behind many Missouri mules -- ridden them, driven them, even hugged them.

But I've also been kicked by one, been he-hawed by some and even shared a run-away with a team.

In all this, I've discovered that if one loves them, treats them with respect and cons them into liking you, they make the best of friends and advisers -- sometimes.
