To the Editor:

To prove that Cape Girardeau is a uniquely lovely and happy place to live was again demonstrated with Wednesday's Band in the Park.

Not over one in a thousand cities or hamlets in this country habitually furnish its people with a delightful evening-a-week to listen to beautiful music of all kinds done so artistically.

While you languish in it, you meet old friends as well as new music lovers, while looking up as the moon glides by and calm breezes fan your smiles.

Hoards of people, not only Girardeans but neighboring citizens come and respond to this weekly chance to calm their stressful lives by listening to music professionally done by about 50 musicians ranging in age from teens to 70s, both male and female, who love music so much to not only give their time for the concert, but also practice so their efforts have a most professional ring that in other places would reward them with multi-dollars for their efforts.

I'm sure that if it were possible to shake hands and pat on the back each and every one of these excellent, dedicated musicians, they would then truly know how much we think of them.

The people of Cape Girardeau should be so proud, not only to stand up and sing our National Anthem with the band, but to be able to come, listen, delight and smile from ear-to-ear because they cohabit such a friendly happy place as the Cape Girardeau, Mo.
