LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: PEOPLE WHO MAKE RIVERFEST A SUCCESS

Dear Editor,

As president of the Cape Girardeau Riverfest Association Board of Directors, I would appreciate the opportunity to publicly acknowledge some of the many volunteers who made Riverfest happen.

My fellow board members, who serve as officers and/or directors of the various areas of responsibility are: Tom Ross, vice president and general chairman of Riverfest '94; Marc Cook, vice president and general co-chair of Riverfest '94; Cheryl Ellis, board secretary; Norma Wildman, board treasurer; Gordon Brookman, director of general services; Jayne Ervin, director of special events; Evelyn LeGrand, director of public relations; Greg Macke, director of crafts and concessions; Chris Qualls, director of entertainment; Marc Cook, director of grounds; and Scott Raines.

Our Committee Chairmen were: Denise Schneider, children's activities; Tracy Childers, entertainment/stage and non stage; Bonnie McCullough, Miss Riverfest; Renee Bowerman, advertising; Sally Owen, publicity; Mary Miller and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, information; Evelyn LeGrand, sponsors; Bruce Robert and Jeff Vandeven, T-shirt sales; Rob Schneider, headquarters; Al Hanke, signs; Celeste Hanke, properties; Peter Robben, transportation; Steve Strong, security and parking; Kent Kiefner, post- Riverfest cleanup; Scott Bucher, solid waste; Larry Simon, utilities; Nancy Ross, arts & crafts; Dick Hill, concessions; Greg Macke, working crafts; Gary Gilbert, Civil War re-enactment; Walt Wildman, carnival; Jayne Ervin, fireworks; Tim Blattner, Riverfest Ramble; and Joy Gilbert, Riverfest Run.

These Committee Chairmen had many other people working with them, too numerous to mention, but my sincere thanks go out to all of them.

My hat is off to this wonderful group of people for a job well done.
