Wanted: Someone to take over God's job. Must be able to rewrite the Bible. No conscience needed.

That sounds like an ad that several people are trying to apply for today, even President Clinton. Does he and others truly believe they can decide who lives and who dies? Whatever happened to "Thou shall not kill"?

As a Catholic, I believe that all life has value and should be protected. I am pro-life. Every baby should have a chance at life. An abortion ends that baby's chance. Only God should have that power to decide who lives and who dies, but that decision to stop a baby's beating hear is being done 4,400 times a day. President Clinton seems to think this is fine. He is pro-choice, which means he does not value life and does not feel every baby deserves a chance at life. What if his mother had made the decision to top his little beating heart? He would not have had the privilege to become president of this country. He should consider this when he decides to play God. Bob Dole is pro-life. He know the value of life and has had to overcome some very hard times in his life. Sometimes when you almost lose the thing most precious to you, you learn the true meaning of life, not only for you, but for everyone. Bob Dole seems to be someone who know this and is not someone to change his mind if he thinks it will help him in his election.

It is not only babies who are having their lives ended, but also those who have become terminally ill or useless in some people's eyes. The right to die and assisted suicides have become very familiar terms these days. Again, someone is trying to play God. Who makes the decision to end another's life? A husband who does not want to be bothered with a sick wife? A father who cannot afford the medical bills for a sick child? Or a person who is not in his right might? My step-grandfather has Alzheimer's. He does not know me anymore. He cannot walk. He is forgetting how to eat. But he still knows how to smile, and that makes me smile. His life has value. My family and I know that things will get much worse before God takes him. But we will be there for him, and in his heart he knows this, and it will give him comfort. President Clinton seems to be persuaded to go along with those people he thinks will bring him the most votes and seems to forget the value of life. Bob Dole stands firm on his beliefs that all people have the right to live and have value.

I believe that we should let God be God and get on with living. Pro-life is the Catholic way. It is God's way. If you would like to help make a difference, tell your parents to vote for Bob Dole. He is pro-life.
