LETTERS: NO PRIDE IN GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

Cigarette smoking is a health hazard, and it costs the taxpayers an exorbitant amount of money.

How much more has the booze industry cost the taxpayers in money, health and family dissolution?

There was the war on drugs. We must still be at war because we still have drugs -- and more than before.

Was a crisis created? And is order being made out of the crisis? Are our congressional representatives going to lose this war? Is there anything that our government has done that we can take pride in?
