LETTERS: HOLY WORD OFFERS HOPE EVEN AMID DARKNESS OF SIN

To the editor:

Recently after a church service I pondered as to why so many Bibles have black covers. I said to God, "Lord, black is a color which makes one think of death, and black represents darkness. Why is this color used to cover your word?" He replied, "To send this message: In the midst of darkness there is life, my living Word. In the midst of darkness there is hope, love, a place of refuge for one's soul when experiencing the outer darkness of a sinful world."

How beautiful and wonderful is God's love for us.

How great is his wisdom to place these treasures where we will need them the most: "In the midst of darkness."
