LETTERS: BOYS IN DELTA SHOW RESPECT FOR FUNERAL CARS

To the editor:

Last week my father-in-law passed away. During the funeral procession from Cape Girar-deau to Leopold, we passed through Delta, Mo. As the procession came through town, of course everyone pulled their vehicles to the side of the road out of respect for the deceased.

But there were three residents who made an impact on not only myself, but several others who were in the procession. As we passed through Delta, there were three young boys on bicycles. As we turned the corner, all three of these boys stopped their bicycles, laid them on the ground, took off their caps and stood with them over their hearts waiting for us to pass.

After the funeral, several us were talking. Everyone was very taken by the respect these boys showed. I feel they need to be told how much those couple of minutes they took meant to not only me, but to many of the other family members. It is very rare to see children with those kind of manners in this day and age. I would just like to thank them and take my hat off to their parents for the obviously wonderful job they have done with their children.
