GENEROSITY, GOOD DEEDS AND A LOT OF HOT AIR: GENESIS TRANSPORTATION HAS HISTORY OF HELPING

Again, Genesis Transportation Co. Inc. has come to the aid of those in need: They provided a tractor-trailer and driver to haul cleaning supplies to Georgians devastated by the worst flooding Georgia has seen in many years.

Genesis transported the trailer load of cleaning supplies to a Macon warehouse for the American Red Cross. From there the Red Cross distributed the urgently needed items across flood-ravaged areas.

It isn't the first time the Cape Girardeau-based hauler has volunteered equipment and manpower to assist those in need. It donates its services at least a couple of times a year to Homeless Inc. of Anna, Ill., which gathers necessities such as food and clothing for the poor. Genesis has seen to it that the goods get to their destinations, which have included South Dakota and southern Texas. Another load soon will be on its way to southern Mississippi.

Genesis, which is owned and operated by Kermit Meystedt, also hurried to aid hurricane victims after Andrew pulverized the southern part of Florida a few years ago. As usual, equipment and manpower were donated by the company to transport supplies to hurricane victims.

It is nice to see a company put aside the hectic pace of business and take time to help those in need.
