The Kohlfield Capahas baseball team from Cape Girardeau upheld its long tradition of tournament excellence again this year. The Capahas were finally eliminated Monday from the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, but not before tying for seventh place out of a field of 32 of the best teams in the nation.

The Capahas, which may well be the oldest baseball team in the nation, ended the season with a 33-7 record.

Supporters of the team can take pride in the fact that this area once again made an excellent showing throughout the season and in front of the crowds at the World Series.

Supporters also can pat themselves on the back for coming through at the last minute when the need arose for financial support to get to the World Series.

All of the team members and manger Jess Bolen appreciate the loyal fans who encourage the team throughout the year but especially who rallied around for the World Series.

Congratulations to the Capahas, and good luck next year.
