Jeff and Kim Harms are an inspirational story. It has been 10 years since both suffered traumatic brain injuries in separate automobile accidents. They hold jobs, maintain a loving relationship and fight a daily frustrating battle of constant short-term memory loss.

The two met at a brain injury rehabilitation program and have been married seven years.

Jeff has become an advocate of seat belt use and safe driving. He speaks to schools and civic groups on behalf of the Missouri Heads Up program and the Missouri Head Injury Association.

The Harmses' struggles remind us of what can happen when tragedy strikes. But more importantly, their love of each other and drive to help others demonstrate that the human spirit can rise above almost any diversity.

Having a bad day? Jeff and Kim Harms' grit provide a down-to-earth perspective for everyone that life is what you make of it.
