Plaza Tire Service on the corner of Kingshighway and William St. in Cape Girardeau

Plaza Tire Service started with a tire changer mounted on the sidewalk outside Plaza Car Wash on Williams Street in Cape Girardeau in 1963, when city codes wouldn't allow the tire changer to be kept there. Founder Vernon 'Pee Wee' Rhodes decided his best opportunity was with tires and converted the car wash to a tire store over a weekend. Today, the family-owned business has grown to include 65 locations in Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky and northeastern Arkansas.

The company is known for their service and speed. They realize their customers have choices and busy lives, needing to get in and out as quickly as possible. As such, Plaza Tire Service is home to "The Quick Change Artist," offering a "4 Tires, 1 Hour" guarantee in which they install four tires on a customer's vehicle in one hour. This commitment to providing a friendly atmosphere and performing quality work quickly is a hallmark of their success.

"Our low prices and extensive selection of tires bring many of our customers to us. It's our service that keeps them coming back," says Mark Rhodes, Plaza Tire Service president. "We have friendly employees who work with a sense of urgency to get customers back on the road quickly."
