Burrito-Ville to hold #GiveBacktoCape event for Cape Girardeau Police Department

CAPE GIRARDEAU— Burrito-Ville, a locally owned and operated restaurant, will hold its monthly #GiveBacktoCape fundraising event from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 15 in support of the Cape Girardeau Police Department’s training fund.

The #GiveBacktoCape event for the police department will donate 10 percent of all sales from 5 to 9 p.m., including T-shirts, gift certificates, food, beverages and alcohol. The money raised will go towards the department’s required training program.

Training is an important aspect of the job description for Cape Girardeau police officers, said Cape PD Sergeant Adam Glueck. He said officers always need to keep on top of their training to make sure they are at their best when serving the community.

Glueck said officers must attend at least 24 hours of training every year in different areas like legal studies, interpersonal perspectives, technical studies, skill development, firearm training and more.

“This gets expensive since we currently have over 80 uniformed officers,” he said. “Any money made at the fundraiser would be used to help fund these courses or any other training opportunities that we may have turned down in the past.”

Attendees at the event can expect to have great food, hear live music on the Burrito-Ville dog-friendly patio from local Cape Girardeau band The Tone Def All-Stars, and take part in a meet-and-greet with various Cape Girardeau police officers, including cool police vehicles. Kid-friendly and families encouraged!
