Press Release - City of Perryville

For Immediate Release -- November 13, 2013

Angela Fields has been selected as the new building inspector and zoning administrator for the City of Perryville.

She began her duties Nov. 5, following the retirement of Jim Wibbenmeyer, who served as the city's building inspector for more than 28 years. With his retirement, the position was reorganized, and Fields will report to Public Works Director Mark Brown.

Fields is from Jackson, Mo., and holds a bachelor degree in construction science management from Kansas State University. She worked for six years with the Missouri Department of Transportation in design and construction. She also worked for 10 years with a general building contractor in St. Louis.

She said the last two weeks have been busy ones as she begins learning the ropes of her new job.

"There are many facets to this job beside inspecting construction sites," she said. "I will also serve as the zoning administrator and work closely with the Planning and Zoning Commission, and serve as the GIS/mapping administrator for the city. It's a big job, but I'm ready for the challenge. I love this industry."

Her duties also include facilitating friendly annexations, ensuring adherence to land subdivision regulations, issuing building permits, serving as the City's flood plain administrator, and working with the Board of Adjustments.

Fields said she's enjoyed visiting job sites for inspections and is looking forward to meeting more people in the community. She's also preparing to obtain additional certifications.

"I will be working on my certification with the International Code Council, and will also be obtaining certification in flood plain management."

Brown said that he's pleased to welcome Fields to the City of Perryville's team of dedicated employees.

"Angie will be a great asset for the city," Brown said. "At all levels, we are working to grow Perryville in ways that benefit the citizens we serve. Angie's expertise in construction will be appreciated by the contractors we work with and her experience with MoDOT gives her a great background in public infrastructure, a vital skill for a planning and zoning administrator."

Fields has three children -- Andrew, Natalie and Lauren and said the family looks forward to moving to Perryville.

"It's a beautiful community," she said. "I've always loved Perryville and thought it was a friendly town. We're looking forward to making our home here."
