2013 Annual RSVP/VIC Recognition

Scott Givens (as Richard Simmons) instructed RSVP/VIC Volunteers the best way to exercise.

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program/Volunteer Intergenerational Center held its Annual Recognition on Tuesday, April 23 at the Eagles Aeries #3775 in Cape Girardeau. Celebrating 40 years of service in Scott and Cape Girardeau Counties, the first fifteen volunteers enrolled in the program in 1973 were honored with a memorial candlelight service. Several in attendance dressed in Hippie attire based on this year's theme. Scott Givens, Healthpoint Fitness Manager in Jackson, provided a two-part entertainment rendition of Richard Simmons and Elvis Presley.

"This was the best recognition we have ever had," says Tina Dohogne-Nations, Executive Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program/Volunteer Intergenerational Center. "It was decided to change the program format of our 2013 event to be more entertaining instead of the usual regimented honor recognition it has been in the past. Laughter and smiles were on the faces of everyone in the room."

A special thanks to Theresa Robinson of the Eagles Aeries #3775 and a heartfelt thanks to Scott Givens for making this year's recognition a successful one.
