Library Week

This week is National Library Week.

When some think of libraries, they think of places they can go to check out books, but libraries are much more these days.

They are meeting places, information centers and computer labs. There are books on compact disc, and activities for young, old and everyone in between.

The Secretary of State's Office has the Talking Book and Braille Library that mails reading materials to the visually impaired at no cost.

Libraries are invaluable to the education and literacy of communities.

If you haven't been to your local library lately, this is a good time to check out what it's all about.

If you are a regular visitor, this week might be a good time to thank a librarian and see how you may be able to forward the cause of literacy.
