Messy Morning

A popular event that encourages fun for children while being messy returns to the Show Me Center on Saturday.

Messy Morning, now in its sixth year, attracted more than 3,500 children and parents last year, and organizers are looking for another strong turnout this year.

Organized by several area agencies, Saturday's event will in part help to promote autism awareness. In this effort, there will be a room especially for children with autism and sensory issues.

While the activities are for children of all ages, it's targeted to youngsters from birth through fourth grade.

If you have young children, we hope you consider stopping by. The event is free, but canned food items will be accepted for the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

Parents are encouraged to bring a change of clothes for their children. As the name of the event indicates, it will be messy.

Event activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hats off to all the agencies who work to make this happen and to the sponsors for their support.
