Chaffee woman accused of stealing from hospital closet

A Chaffee, Mo., woman was arrested early Friday after she allegedly stole supplies from a closet at a hospital emergency room. Ashlee J. Steffens, 26, was arrested about 1:50 a.m. on a misdemeanor stealing charge after she reportedly took medical supplies from a closet in the Saint Francis Medical Center emergency room, where she went for medical treatment, according to Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Darin Hickey. The items taken included gauze, tape, iodine and bandages. She was being held at the Cape Girardeau Police Department on Friday morning on a $2,500 cash-only bond, but was set to be transferred to the Cape Girardeau County Jail.
