Sikeston police looking for man connected to Wednesday shooting

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is searching for a man involved in Wednesday's shooting in the 1400 block of West Murray Lane. Ricky Dewayne Davis Jr., 26, of Sikeston is being sought for allegedly wounding his victim with a gunshot to the abdomen. The victim has been identified as Leopha R. Winfield, 34, of Sikeston, who is in stable condition in the hospital. The Scott County prosecutor's office has charged Davis with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Anyone with information on Davis is asked to contact the department at 573-471-4711 or the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 573-471-1500. Tips may remain anonymous. Information on Davis' whereabouts may lead to a cash reward.
