New Lorimier School, now Cape Girardeau City Hall, opened its doors in the fall of 1937. These youngsters, pleased with their efforts in a spelling bee, posed for a picture on the steps of the George Boardman Clark house east of the school. The students are Polly Ramsey, Nancy Hunter, Janet Clark, Lloyd Watkins, John Mehrle, Maxine Busch, Rosemary Greenwell, Rosemary Craig, Bob "Bobby" Terry, Viola Whitney, unknown, and Mary Clack. To enjoy Maxine Boren's memories of her first year at New Lorimier, read librarian Sharon Sanders' blog -- From the Morgue -- Thursday.
