FamilyVideo Raises $1 Million for Cancer Research

Family Video, the largest privately-owned movie and game rentailer in the United States, announced that its inaugural Round It Up for Lymphoma campaign raised $1 Million for the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF). All campaign proceeds will be dedicated to lymphoma research.

"Family video stores across the county embraced this new campaign and raised an incredible sum," said Keith Hoogland, Family Video President. "I wish to extend a sincere thanks to everyone -- especially our customers, staff, management and members of our communities -- who contributed to Round It Up for Lymphoma."

Round It Up for Lymphoma offered Family Video customers and LRF supporters the opportunity to support cancer research by rounding up their rentals or purchases at Family Video stores nationwide, including the Cape Girardeau store. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through Round It Up for Lymphoma will support lymphoma research projects. Lymphoma is the most common type of blood cancer and the most common cancer of childhood.

"We are grateful for the tremendous generosity of Family Video and its customers, including those in Cape Girardeau, who raised an extraordinary amount for lymphoma research through the Round It Up for Lymphoma campaign," said LRF Chief Executive Officer Diane Blum. "Because of the support LRF receives from socially-conscious corporate partners like Family Video, we are able to pursue our mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by this disease."

LRF is the nation's largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and providing people with lymphoma and healthcare professionals with critical information on the disease. The Foundation is dedicated to funding biomedical research focused on the origins, treatment and identification of a cure for lymphoma; to raising public awareness of the disease; and providing support and services to people with lymphoma, their families and caregivers.
