I-57 bridge at Cairo reopens
Sunday, August 21, 2011
CAIRO, Ill. -- The Interstate 57 bridge spanning the Mississippi River between Cairo and Charleston, Mo., reopened to traffic at midnight on Thursday. The bridge was closed for three days to allow contractors to make necessary repairs. During its closure, many motorists were forced to drive far out of the way to get between Missouri and Illinois, due to the closure of the Mississippi River bridge on U.S. 60/62 at Cairo.
