Southeast talent

Southeast Missouri is full of talent. Proof of this could be found in last week's 10th annual SEMO District Fair Heartland Idol. Musical talent was on full display.

The final included six youths and 12 adults who performed on the fair stage. The 18 singers in the finals all gave phenomenal performances. Congratulations to Anna Catherine DeHart and Kevin Harbison for winning the youth and adult divisions.

The display of talent did not stop at the fair. A group of dancers from Marble Hill, self-named Krazy Crew, gained national exposure with their recent performance on the CMT show "Your Chance to Dance." While none of the group members had extensive dance training, the group practiced hours on end and was chosen to perform on the show after sending in a tape recording of their 90-second freestyle performance of "High Maintenance Woman" by Toby Keith. After being selected to appear on the show, a professional choreographer worked with the group on a new routine to the same song.

It has only been two years since Southeast Missouri native Neal E. Boyd won "America's Got Talent," and it would be no surprise if another Southeast Missouri citizen gained national honors for his or her talent.

Bravo.
