The big game

For this neck of the woods, one of the biggest sporting events of the year is on tap tonight. It's the football matchup between neighborly rivals Cape Girardeau Central High School and Jackson High School.

Fans rooting for both schools will pack Houck Stadium at Southeast Missouri State University with a sea of orange and red. This is the one event every other year that is sure to fill the stadium seats. In addition, many of those attending the game will be among the die-hard fans of high school football who just like to see a good battle on the field.

This year promises to be an exciting game. Central's team is winning its games following a spell of losses as the program underwent a rebuilding process. Jackson's squad will be ready to push back, and fans can look forward to a great night of high school football.

The weather forecast for Friday night is for a near-perfect evening of autumn weather. With the SEMO District Fair still in full swing and a host of other events being held in the area, there's plenty to do.

But at 7 p.m. Friday fans of Jackson and Central teams will be on hand for the kickoff at Houck. Go, teams!
