Jackson Homecomers 09 with the Grands

YEAH! Jackson Homecomers! What a wonderful, mid-west celebration! The rides were great, [my grandchildren say the swings were the best!] the food was just as it should be and the music was beautiful. What a big night for all the kids, my grands for sure. Three darts for $5. Pop any balloon and you get a prize! 'Yippee, I got a shark Nana!' Now that is amazing! Not such great luck with the ping pong ball in the fish bowl thing, but at 15 tries for $2 now there's a bargain for you! [And Daddy's saying 'Thank God I won't have to flush a fish down the toilet and explain that!']

Laughter ringing out everywhere and smiles on the faces of everyone you meet... priceless.

What can be better than to see a hotdog sized grin and eyes filled with glee on the face of your own flesh and blood, heritage from the Lord, grandchildren, as they slide down a 40' balloon slide with hands and feet in the air? And what are the first words out of their mouth as their little feet touch the pavement? A breathless 'Let's go again!' How can you say no to that?!

After Pink elephants that fly ['I can see EVERYTHING from here!] and boat lessons that teach you to go really fast [like is there a speed any less than one?] and ram other grinning kids in little boats with patient side kick, Daddies, Mommies and Me Maws getting splashed, swings that go so fast they make your stomach flip, [good thing we didn't have that ice cream yet] and another boat ride, it's time for food. 'Papa, is there any more money in that wallet?' Let's see, Nachos and corn dogs, is that allowed? OK so we better drink water, no soda that late at night, not for my grandchildren. Now you have your basic food groups, dairy, grain, protein, how can that be bad?

And to finally drag home at 9:30 pm with a green teethed 7 year old, thanks to chocolate mint chip Dippin Dots ice cream [oh yeah we had that too!] and a very sticky faced and fingered five year old [yes we had to buy cotton candy, it's what he 'really, really' wanted] drop them off with Mommy, wave goodbye and head home. Now that's the ultimate pay back every grandparent secretly has to grin over!

See Cohen, Nana told you that Papa and I had so much fun with you and Kiara at Homecomers that I was gonna put it in the paper...and so I have!
