Candidate forum to be held Tuesday in Jackson

The candidates for District 1 commissioner in Cape Girardeau County and the 158th District Missouri House race will take part in a forum Tuesday in Jackson. The forum will be sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Southeast Missouri and the University of Missouri Extension of Cape Girardeau County and will be held at the extension offices at 684 W. Jackson Trail. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a meet-and-greet for candidates and the public. The commission candidates -- 10 candidates are seeking the Republican nomination and three are vying for the Democratic ballot slot in the Aug. 5 primary -- will begin their forum at 6:45 p.m. The candidates for the 158th District nomination in the Republican primary will hold their forum beginning at 9 p.m. There are no Democratic candidates.
