Algae is better than ethanol

To the editor:In response to the story "Investors becoming wary of ethanol projects": Diesel cars can achieve 50 miles per gallon. Coal can be converted to fuel. Ethanol is a joke (a bad joke). The conversion of coal produces carbon dioxide, but that could be compressed and shipped to desert areas to grow algae with seawater (piped in). The algae can produce vast amounts of biodiesel, clean drinking water and ethanol. Let's stop being stupid.
