Fallen soldier

1st Lt. Dan Riordan died in Iraq on Saturday doing the job he had trained for as a student at Southeast Missouri State University.

The U.S. Army officer and three other soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in Taji, Iraq. The St. Louisan graduated from Southeast and its ROTC program in 2005. While here, he impressed supervisors and classmates with his commitment to the job at hand, whatever it was. One of his jobs was escorting students who did not want to walk alone on campus at night. He cared about others.

As the ROTC color guard commander, he honored others. Let us now honor Lt. Riordan for the sacrifice he made and extend the deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
