Letter to the Editor

Rush put Cape on the map

To the editor:I am responding to the Nov. 26 letter, which I read via the internet, by Dr. Dorothy M. Munch of Poplar Bluff.

I was raised and have deep family roots in Cape Girardeau. I have not lived in Cape Girardeau for over 30 years. In those years, when the subject of my hometown has come up, I have always been surprised when people have heard of Cape and think highly of it. The main reason they know of Cape is because of Rush Limbaugh Jr. For the last 19 years, 20 million people have been treated, on occasion, to tales of growing up in Cape as recalled by Rush.

Jean Girardot may have given Cape Girardeau it's name, but Rush put it on the map. I am proud to be from Cape Girardeau. I am prouder still of Rush, and I am honored to know him.

I suggest that Dr. Munch just stay put in Poplar Bluff. And while there she might actually listen to Rush. If she had done so in the past year, she would not have displayed her ignorance on the details of the Michael J. Fox situation. I hope Dr. Munch knows more about medicine then she knows about Rush.
