Barbecue lunch to be held at veterans home
Friday, November 10, 2006
More than 200 residents and staff of the Missouri Veterans Home will be served a barbecue lunch Saturday. For the second year in a row, members of the SEMO Electrical Connection and Schnucks Market will provide the luncheon as a dedication in honor of veterans. The food will be prepared starting at 9 a.m. today at the electrical workers' complex, 2611 Gerhardt St., before serving at 11 a.m. Saturday at the veterans home. The Electrical Connection is composed of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 1 and its contract workers, union business representative Bill Walz said. This is the first year Schnucks was participating, and Walz said the group hopes to make the event an annual one.
