Law should apply to president, too

To the editor:

In the Christmas paper I noted that our state senator, Jason Crowell, has proposed a state law to ban intersection cameras. Well and good. I agree with him. However, he was quoted as saying, "The goal may be a lofty goal, but in this whole analysis of lofty goals I hope we don't get caught up in the ends justifying the means." Better and better. We are, we say, a nation of laws to which all are subject. My question to Mr. Crowell, however, is this: Do you apply the same standard to George W. Bush when he wiretaps American citizens without a search warrant?
