President is wearing no clothes

To the editor:

We are all familiar with the fable where a child points out that the emperor is not wearing any clothes. This is essentially what is happening here in the United States, where U.S. Rep. John Murtha has described the reality of the Iraq War situation. If anyone is familiar with the honest opinions of military personnel that have served in Iraq, it is surely Murtha.

The attitude that President Bush has adopted, seemingly with the advice from the neo-conservatives in the administration, is that the United States possesses such a military and moral superiority that we can act unilaterally in world affairs without regard to United Nations approval or international opinion. This is not funny as he keeps marching down the street with this illusion.
