The Zalma boys cross country team took first place at Wednesday's Chaffee Postal Meet as the Bulldogs grabbed three spots in the top 10 to finish with a team score of 36.

Zalma freshman Peyton Ford crossed the finish line in fifth place to lead the Bulldogs. Sophomore Alex Steinberg followed in sixth ahead of brother Jacob Steinberg, a freshman, in seventh.

Saxony Lutheran came in second with seniors Greg Hapgood, Aaron Koehler and Taylor Richmond finishing in the top 10 for the Crusaders.

Advance junior Matt Adams and freshman Cade Long placed ninth and 10th, respectively, for the Hornets, who placed third overall.

Valle Catholic senior Calvin Colvis grabbed first place with a time of 17 minutes, 24 seconds.

Saxony Lutheran finished second with 38 points behind Valle Catholic in the girls' division.

Junior Grace Hanebrink was third while senior Breanne Etzold followed in seventh for the Crusaders.

Delta sophomore Jamie Hodge was the second runner to cross the finish line, 23 seconds behind Valle Catholic sophomore Sally Heil's 21:27.

Chaffee freshman Hannah Glueck placed eighth and senior Holly Rutherford crossed 10th for the host Red Devils.
