COLUMBIA -- Two Cape Central swimmers earned all-state honors Saturday in the Missouri state championship meet.

Sophomores Matt Younghouse and Jason Owen both earned all-state honors. Younghouse placed fifth in the 500-meter freestyle in 4:56.27 and Owen finished sixth in the 100-meter backstroke in 55.99.

Owen's 55.44 in the event Friday set a school record. The time was good enough for all-America consideration.

"We had a fantastic season," said Central coach Dayna Powell.

As a team, Central placed 18th. Lafayette won the meet, Columbia Hickman was second and Marquette was third.

Younghouse and Owen also picked up honorable mention all-state honors. Younghouse was 10th in the 200-meter freestyle in 1:49.63 and Owen placed 10th in the 200-meter IM in 2:04.80.
