Mike Woods of Jackson won the Bassbusters of Southeast Missouri bass fishing tournament on April 9 at Lake Kinkaid in southern Illinois.
Woods reported catching his fish on a Southern Pro Piching Tube in less than 3 feet of water on old road beds in small coves and cuts.
Steve Ramey of Cape took second place buy targeting shallow early season weed growth with a Bandit 100 series crankbait in a shad pattern.
Both anglers reported early bedding activity, with males begining to make beds in shallow protected coves. The females were not yet locked on the beds, and sight fishing was not productive.
The lake was clear and 58 degrees.
The Bassmasters of Southeast Missouri bass fishing club is seeking new members. Those interested can contact Mike Woods, 243-1117.
