Moments after the Funai Classic at Walt Disney World was suspended because of storms Friday, Tiger Woods unleashed his fury. He reared back and spiked his golf ball onto the cart path in front of the 17th green, sending it 20 feet in the air and into the pond.
Woods made a double bogey and a triple bogey in the same round for the first time since the 2000 Masters, and he was on the verge of missing a cut for the second time this year.
Due to the weather, Woods will have to return this morning with slim hopes of making the cut.
Woods was at 4 under and most likely needed two birdies to make the cut. That looked even more improbable when his tee shot on the 17th narrowly cleared the lake, leaving him in sticky rough under a tree about 150 yards from the hole.
At least this time, it would only be a short drive home. Woods lives about 15 minutes away from the Disney complex in Florida.
Paul Broadhurst shot a 4-under-par 66 to take a one-stroke lead Friday over Jose Maria Olazabal after two rounds of the Mallorca Classic.
John Harris shot a tournament-tying record 9-under 62 to grab a two-shot lead after the first round of the SBC Championship at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio on Friday.
Gil Morgan was two shots back.
