The Cape Girardeau Wood & Huston Junior Legion baseball team won and lost in dramatic fashion Saturday and will play for the championship of its own eight-team invitational tournament today at 3 p.m. against Festus.

Timmy Wencewicz belted a one-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to lead Cape to a 3-1 win over Imperial in the first of two pool-play games.

But Cape lost in the same manner in its next game, falling to Festus 5-3 on a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh.

In the first game, Scott Eftink picked up the win, giving up one earned run on four hits and three walks. He fanned 10.

Rob Carr -- who was the only Cape batter to have more than one hit in either game -- was tagged with the loss in the second game. He allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and a walk. He struck out two.

Cape is now 15-4 on the season and 3-1 in the tournament.
