The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team concluded play in the Panther Invitational on Sunday with a 3-1 victory against the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Waterloo, Iowa.
Southeast (4-2) scored all three of its goals in the second half against UMKC, a first-year program.
The Kangaroos (0-4) had taken a 1-0 lead into halftime when Zaina Mayer put a header past Redhawks goalkeeper Kristen Starkey in the 34th minute.
The lead didn't last long in the second half as Ali Bauer and Bobbi Jo Schlick scored in the first 3 minutes. Ashley Runion had the assist on Bauer's goal, and Bauer then assisted on Schlick's game-winner. Mabel Velarde provided a two-goal cushion 5 minutes later when she deposited a pass from Katie Snelson.
Southeast outshot UMKC 23-6 and had a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
In its other tournament game, the Redhawks had lost 2-1 on Friday to Western Michigan.
Southeast returns to action Friday when it visits Northwestern State for a 7 p.m. game.
