DETROIT -- Henrik Zetterberg's goal 1:59 into overtime gave the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday night in a matchup of the Central Division's two top teams.
Zetterberg one-timed a pass from Jason Woolley past St. Louis goaltender Fred Brathwaite from the bottom of the right circle.
Peter Cajanek's goal with 2:12 left in the third period tied the game at 3 for St. Louis and sent it into overtime. He tipped in a shot from the point by Barret Jackman just 40 seconds after the Red Wings had taken the lead.
Chris Chelios' goal with 2:52 left gave Detroit a 3-2 lead. His slap shot from the left point deflected in off the stick of the Blues' Steve Dubinsky.
Scott Mellanby's power-play goal tied it at 2 for the Blues 4:56 into the third period. His slap shot from the high slot beat Curtis Joseph low to the glove side with Mathieu Dandenault off for tripping.
It was Mellanby's 700th career point.
Detroit scored twice in the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Brett Hull tied the game at 1 with a power-play goal 1:44 into the second period. He put in a rebound only seconds after he had hit the goal post with a slap shot.
It has Hull's 12th goal of the season and gave him at least one point in 12 of the Red Wings' last 13 games.
