Jackson Tribe Senior Legion defeated the Southern Missouri Revelers 16-5 in five innings on Thursday at Jackson Stadium.
Lance Wilson led the way on offense and the mound with a 3-3 day and going for all but one out from the rubber.
The Revelers opened up the scoring in the first after an error allowed one run to score. The two squads traded runs before entering the third tied up at 2-2.
Jackson got the offense going in the third with back-to-back doubles from Seth Abernathy and Wilson before a single from Ben Dambach gave Tribe the 6-2 lead.
Head coach Mark Lewis said the hitting was much better in the third and fourth innings than at the beginning of the night.
“In the middle innings, I liked the bats a lot better. We did a lot better than I felt like we were early on,” Lewis said. “We were not aggressive enough. I thought we had pitches to hit and we didn't do that.”
Jackson poured on 10 more runs in the bottom of the fourth and nearly everyone got involved in the offense.
Garrison Brown got things going with an RBI single, Wilson brought in three runs with a home run shot, Karson Hamm and David Weinhold each tripled for RBIs and Blake Gaebler finished the day with an RBI double.
Wilson struck out five batters and walked four while allowing four earned runs, Brown replaced him for the final out in the top of the fifth.
Lewis said Wilson had a good night considering some of the errors costing him some runs.
“Lance on the mound was sharp, early, and then kind of let off and I probably let him go a little too long,” Lewis said. “But he had the lead, so I tried to stretch him out and see what he's got because he hasn't thrown a lot of innings yet.”
Tribe (4-5) will have an 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. doubleheader with Hillsboro Senior Legion on Saturday at Saxony Lutheran High School.
