Advance senior Brian Whitson continued his hot run with a 5-over-par 75 to earn the medalist honor, leading the Hornets to the team title at the Class 1 sectional tournament Monday at The Oaks at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach, Missouri, and a spot in next week's state tournament.
The Hornets finished with a 343 team total to finish 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Bloomfield, which also advanced to the Class 1 state tournament, to be held May 16-17 at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa, Missouri.
Whitson, who finished one shot ahead of Crystal City's Tyler Andrews, also was the medalist at the Class 1 District 1 meet last week in leading the Hornets to the team title.
On Monday, Carson Miles (81), Spence Lorch (85) and Creighton Miles (102) contributed to Advance's winning score.
Advance finished sixth at last year's state tournament, with Whitson finishing second overall in the individual standings.
The top 10 individuals not on the top two teams also qualified for the state meet, and the list included St. Vincent's Andrew Mudd, who carded a 90.

Saxony Lutheran's Karsten Short shot a 14-over-par 85 at the Class 2 sectional meet at The Falls Golf Club in O'Fallon to lead a group of three Crusaders who qualified individually for next week's state tournament.
Saxony had a 354 team total to finish 10 strokes behind sectional runner-up Whitfield (344), but the Crusaders' Olivia Voelker also qualified with an 87, as did Ben Daniel with an 89.
Trinity Catholic's Samuel Araujo shot a 7-over-par 78 to earn the medalist honor, while Lutheran St. Charles won the team title with a 340 total.
The Class 2 state tournament will be held May 16-17 at the Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia, Mo.

Notre Dame posted a 14-shot victory at the Class 3 sectional meet at Raintree Country Club in Hillsboro, Missouri, to advance to next week's state tournament.
The Bulldogs, led by a 9-over-par 81 by junior Jonathan Bell, finished with a 346 total. Clayton finished runner-up in the four-team field at 360 to also advance.
Notre Dame's team score was made up by Bell, Jack Litzelfelner (84), Caleb Schnurbusch (90) and Lincoln Hunter (91).
The top 10 individuals not on the top two teams also qualified, which included Cape Girardeau Central senior Kobe Franklin, who tied for second overall with a 79, four strokes behind medalist Ethan Stevens of Dexter.
The Class 3 state tournament will be held May 16-17 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Missouri.

Jackson senior Hunter Asher and freshman Case Englehart qualified for the Class 4 state tournament with top-10 finishes at the sectional meet at the par-71 Algonquin Golf Club in Webster Groves, Missouri.
Asher shot a 10-over-par 81, while Englehart finished two shots back at 83.
Jackson placed seventh in the standings at 337 and did not qualify for the state meet as a team. Chaminade won the team title with a 304, which was 28 strokes ahead of Ladue Horton Watkins, Webster Groves, Saint Louis University High and Vianney -- all finished at 332. SLUH ended up taking second place and advancing to the state meet thanks to its fifth scorer Michael Rackers.
Poplar Bluff finished eighth, six strokes behind Jackson. Nathan Woolard and Justin Capps individually qualified for the state meet for the Mules.
Chaminade's Joseph Terschluse carded an even-par 71 to earn the medalist honors.
