Whitney receivesOVC player of week

Southeast Missouri State junior post player Missy Whitney was named the Ohio Valley Conference player of the week and newcomer of the week for her performance last week.

Whitney, a Three Rivers Community College transfer and Charleston High School graduate, produced her seventh double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Morehead State last week.

Whitney then scored 18 points and added five rebounds and three blocks in a 73-72 win over Eastern Kentucky.

For the week, Whitney averaged 23 points and 7.5 rebounds. Southeast is tied for first in the OVC at 12-4 and is 17-7 overall. The Redhawks travel to Eastern Illinois on Wednesday.
