Jake Welch pitched five solid innings as Central's baseball team went on the road Monday and picked up a 5-1 victory over Hillsboro.
Welch allowed one earned run on four hits. Chris Daniel pitched the final two innings for the Tigers (15-9).
Josh Ford led the way offensively with a single and two RBIs. Seth Hudson added an RBI double.
Central's junior varsity lost 5-3. Steve Miinch had two hits for Central.
Notre Dame 13, Fredericktown 3
Matt Wulfers hit his 10th home run of the season as Notre Dame won in five innings on the road.
Notre Dame (15-5) pounded out 13 hits to Fredericktown's three. Wulfers finished with six RBIs and is only two home runs shy of the school record.
Wulfers, Kyle Diveley, Matt Smith and Andy Ralls had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Jared Jinkerson pitched a complete game for his third win.
Woodland 4, Advance 3
Woodland scored a run in the sixth inning to slip past host Advance and clinch at least a tie for the Stoddard County Activities Association regular-season title.
The Cardinals (11-7, 5-1) were led by Scotty Crader, who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Alex VanGennip, Kent McCormick and Luke Johnson also went 2-for-4 for Woodland. Anthony Grojean notched his sixth win by striking out eight.
Delta 8, Scott County Central 5
Delta (4-10) handled host Scott Country Central (2-7) by producing 13 hits.
Cody Crowden led the Bobcats with a 4-for-5 performance and two doubles. Brent Menz and Tanner Baggett each went 2-for-4 and Baggett recorded the win.
TRACK AND FIELD
Scott City Invitational
Scott City came up just short in the girls division while Notre Dame was nipped in the boys division at the Scott City Invitational.
Valle swept the meet, winning the girls by five points and the boys by 11. Notre Dame's girls finished third and Scott City's boys finished fourth.
Scott City and Notre Dame's girls each enjoyed record-setting days.
For Scott City, Angie Laxton broke the school in the 1,600 and 3,200 and sister Christy Laxton broke the school record in the 800. Loren Groves broke her own school record in the 100 high hurdles for the Rams, and won the shot put, discus and 300 hurdles. The 3,200 relay team of Kacie Cartwright, Christy Laxton, Alisha Obermann and Jenny Pinkston also set a Scott City record.
For Notre Dame, records were set in the 1,600 relay, 800, 400 and 300 low hurdles. Amber Karnes set the 400 record in 1:03.98, Katie Daniel set the 300 hurdles record (51.36) and Ashley Millham set the 800 record (2:33.12). The 1,600 relay team consisted of Daniel, Laura Weissmueller, Karnes and Millham.
Chaffee's Jennifer Vandeven won the 100, 200 and 400.
On the boy's side, Notre Dame's Adam Prasanphanich won the 100 and 200. Kelly's Nathan Lewer won the high jump and Tyson Glaser won the long jump.
Jefferson County Conference Meet
Perryville's boys won their third straight conference crown as they edged Herculaneum in the meet held at Festus.
Kevin Bohnert led the way with wins in the 100 and 200. Kent Hadler won the 1,600 and finished second in the 800. Zach Leible won the shot put, Terry Wood won the 400 and Chris Porter won the triple jump.
GIRLS SOCCER
Jackson 7, Poplar Bluff 0
Jackson sent the Mules back to Poplar Bluff with sore feet as Molly Hartmann led the Indians (17-2-1) with two goals and two assists.
Courtney Urhahn, Lucy Hartmann, Elizabeth Nussbaum, Rebecca Richbourg and Abby Weinrich each netted a goal. Katie Domian, Emily Curtis, K.T. Biri and Jamie Vines added assists. Whitney Werner recorded her 16th shutout of the season.
Jackson's JV won 10-0.
Perryville 5, Hillsboro 0
Amber Hacker scored a hat trick to lead Perryville (12-6-2) to a home win.
Jenna Schuessler and Chris Schremp had the Pirates' other goals. Amber Crites and Ashley Riney had two assists apiece and Jen Koenig had one. Kate Lowry made two saves for her seventh shutout.
Perryville's JV won 1-0 and finished the season 4-2-1.
St. Vincent 6, Farmington 1
Caitlin Hoeh scored a hat trick as St. Vincent won on the road.
Jessica Buehrle, Joy Donze and Theresa Mattingly added goals for the Squaws (14-8). Amanda Carron, Stacy Brown, Beth Hennemann, Rachel Hadler and Danielle Schremp each had an assist. Michelle Herzog made five saves.
St. Vincent's JV won 3-2.
SOFTBALL
Delta 23, Scott County Central 1
Delta made short work of Scott County Central, winning in three innings on the road.
Tiffany Johnson no-hit the Bravettes to get the win. Johnson also added two hits. Ashley Martin was 3-for-4 for Delta (10-1), and Rebecca Cook and Ashley Elliot had two hits apiece.
Woodland 8, Advance 2
Kaci Cooper was the only Advance player with multiple hits and she couldn't carry the team at the plate as the host Hornets (10-4) struggled in the field, comiting six errors.
Dana Williams suffered her first loss of the season for the Hornets.
