MIRANDA SCHLOSSER AND KRISTAIN BURGER
School: Notre Dame
Class: Sophomores
Sport: Softball
Accomplishment: Burger, a first baseman, had only one hit in the postseason before blasting a go-ahead three-run home run in the fifth inning of a 3-1 win over Lutheran South in the Class 3 state quarterfinal game. Schlosser has pitched all four wins for Notre Dame in the postseason, allowing no earned runs and striking out 33 batters in 26 innings.
Burger: "The home run was indescribable. It feels awesome going to the final four. I would never want to do it with anyone except for the group of girls we have now. We have a lot of confidence in ourselves now so we can do good things."
Schlosser: "I've just really been concentrating on hitting my spots, and things are looking good right now. It feels awesome that we've come this far. It's a privilege to be a part of this team."
Coach Jeff Graviett: "Burger's home run Saturday was huge; you take that away, and that's the difference in the game. ... Miranda was our No. 3 starter early in the year, but she's been battling. We've fed her into a couple big situations, and she's pitching well right now."
