JENNIFER PANCOAST
School: Central
Class: Senior
Sport: Cross Country
Accomplishment: Pancoast finished first in the girls 3.1-mile race at the Central Invitational Saturday afternoon with a time of 19 minutes, 46 seconds. In the two meets prior to Saturday, Pancoast finished first in the senior division at the Jackson Invitational and third at the Northwest Invitational behind two high school All-Americans.
Pancoast: "I had stress fractures in my lower legs during track season, and I didn't start training until July, so I was a little behind. My time was slower Saturday than last year, but I'm pretty excited because I'll be peaking right when I need to around sectionals. The season is looking good for the team; I think it's one of our best teams in a while."
Coach Mark Hahn: "She ran fantastic. She was out in front by herself the entire race. It's hard to run a really good time when you're doing that, but she manages to pull that off. She always wants to beat her time from the year before, and she didn't do that, but she can really get out there and hammer on race day."
